What is Catchball?
The ball is put into play by throwing it over the net from the baseline (serving).
You must catch the ball completely before passing it to a teammate or throwing it over the net.
Each side may pass the ball a maximum of three times before throwing it over the net.
If the ball hits the ground, serve goes to the other team, and players on that side rotate.
Catchball was developed in Israel as an adaptation of Newcomb Ball. Like volleyball, there are
six players on each team, but
players must catch the ball
and throw it, instead of
tipping, bumping or spiking.
